Regenerative Cultures
and Cultures of Empathy
Daniel Christian Wahl |
|
Daniel Christian Wahl is
author of
Designing Regenerative Cultures. In his book,
Daniel explores ways of relating to the many converging crises and
opportunities faced by humanity at a local, regional and global scale. He
invites us to step back from our tendency to want quick-fix solutions.
In this dialogue, we talk about the relationship between designing
Regenerative Cultures and Cultures of Empathy. We see how they are closely
interrelated. Instead of othering and separating from each other, we
need to come together with mutual empathy, presence, connection and care
to heal the planet and co-design Regenerative and Empathic Cultures.
Daniel writes, "Spreading the story of why we care about life and the health
of the whole and sharing the narrative of interbeing is culturally
creative meta-design. By sharing the new and ancient story of interbeing
we facilitate the emergence of diverse regenerative cultures
scale-linked by empathy and cooperation."

What does it mean to be a ‘Weaver’?
Daniel Christian Wahl
"A weaver needs to be able to emphasize with the needs and perspectives
of all those s/he is trying to connect into collaborative exchange and
co-creative action.
More than that, weaving requires to nurture a field of empathy that
involves and attracts ever more diverse collaborators — galvanized by
mutual understanding, growing trust, and shared meaning and vision."

Activism Revisited: Conscious Participation and Collective Intelligence

Sharing and cooperation can spread through the system like infectious
health. The more people meet with cooperative, empathic and sharing
attitudes, the more they will step into the joy of cooperating, caring
for and sharing with others.
Daniel Wahl explores ways of relating to the many converging crises and
opportunities faced by humanity at a local, regional and global scale.
He invites us to step back from our tendency to want quick-fix
solutions. Will they - rather than systemic transformation - offer the
culture change needed?
Through the lenses of
transformative innovation, whole systems thinking, ecological design,
and transformative resilience, the book explores pathways towards a
regenerative culture.
