Dina Buchbinder & Edwin Rutsch: Building a Culture of Empathy with Sports

Dina Buchbinder is director of Sports for Sharing. "Our solution is integrating civic education into children’s lives through games and sporting activities. Sports for Sharing is driven by three objectives: raising social awareness, heightening cultural appreciation and promoting healthy living."  One of the values the program promotes is empathy.

We talked with Dina about the program and how if fosters empathy.  She says, empathy is like seeing from many different perspectives, like a prism or kaleidoscope. The opposite is like being in a dark box with no light. The program was one of 15 Finalists in the Activating Empathy competition.
