====================================
I'm delighted we have been able to finalize a time and date for the
Skype empathy panel discussion--
Thursday August 2nd from 10-11 AM.
Thank you all so much for your flexibility and willingness to do this.
Here is some more information for you about logistics etc.
Next steps:
The discussion, which will be videotaped,
will take place via Skype. Edwin has the technology to make this work.
To make this work, we must all be connected through Skype ahead of
time. Edwin has sent invitations to you to connect with him; I will do
the same. Please accept the Skype invitations from Edwin & Lorraine.
Then, it will be easy for us to be on the Skype call at the same time.
Since I will introduce you,
please send me a short bio you would like me to
read.
Format:
My idea is that the format will be informal and conversational. I'll ask
some questions & facilitate. I
will start different questions with different presenters and make sure
you all have a chance to share your wonderful ideas and experience.
Topic and Questions
The general topic is
the intersection of conflict resolution and empathy. I'm thinking of
questions like--
What does empathy mean
to you?
How does empathy fit
with the work you do?
How do you help
clients/parties find empathy for each other?
How/why does this help
heal conflict?
What makes finding
empathy challenging?
How are empathy and
forgiveness different/the same?
I might ask you
to share specific examples, since that always makes the information
more powerful and accessible.
Here are questions I will ask one of you to take the lead on (assuming
we have time):
